Empire Bank President Russ Marquart presents a $529 scholarship to Springfield kindergarten student Shealyn Barrett at Empire’s Glenstone Avenue branch. Barrett was the winner of the Kindergarten to College Art Contest sponsored by the state treasurer’s office. Springfield students were asked to draw a picture of what they wanted to be when they grew up, and Barrett’s picture was randomly selected from all the entries. The money will go into a Missourians Saving for Tuition, or MOST, 529 college savings plan.
