Starbucks intends to close hundreds of stores and conduct layoffs.
The company plans to shutter roughly 1% of its locations this month. The company said it would have 18,300 stores by month's end, compared with 18,734 North American locations at the end of June.
Starbucks additionally is laying off 900 corporate workers and freezing hiring for myriad open positions.
