A week-old strike by Starbucks workers is expanding to additional cities, according to officials with the Starbucks Workers United union.
Springfield is among 25 U.S. cities being added to the strike, the union said. The expansion of the strike would add 30 stores, following 65 that planned to go on strike last week.
Roughly 550 of Starbucks’ 10,000 company-owned U.S. stores are unionized. Starbucks additionally has 7,000 licensed locations.
Workers at the Springfield Starbucks store at 1008 E. Battlefield Road held a "practice picket" Oct. 31 as part of a nationwide movement.
