Starbucks is planning to raise wages, but unionized workers may be excluded, CNN Business reports.
"We do not have the same freedom to make these improvements at locations that have a union or where union organizing is underway," said interim CEO Howard Schultz, noting federal law "prohibits us from promising new wages and benefits at stores involved in union organizing."
Promised wage increases from last year will be honored among all employees, including those who have unionized, company officials said.
