Starbucks price hike starts Tuesday

Posted online
Starbucks coffee customers will start paying 5 to 20 cents more for their daily cup of Joe starting Tuesday. And those buying Starbucks' packaged coffee from supermarkets can soon expect to pay $1 more.

According to the Associated Press, the prices don't appear to just be in response to rising bean costs that have pressured other sellers. Starbucks also wants to remain competitive, the report said.

The $1 price boost on packaged coffees sold in supermarkets and other retail outlets will kick in July 21, and follow J.M. Smucker’s recent decision to raise prices on its coffees, which include Folgers.
