Starbucks baristas get big raises: 5% or more

Posted online
Starbucks Corp. (Nasdaq: SBUX) yesterday announced an Oct. 3 wage hike for workers at 7,600 company-operated stores.

CEO Howard Schultz said the company also would double stock awards for employees with two or more years at Starbucks.

The average annual wage for a Starbucks worker is roughly $20,000, including tips, stock and bonuses, according to CNNMoney.

This fall’s pay raise will boost total compensation between 5 percent and 15 percent, but does not apply to employees at some 5,000 locations licensed by other operators.
