Starbucks abandoning pastry shop experiment

Starbucks is shuttering its 23 La Boulange stores, ending the coffee giant's sideline bakery cafe business.

The company acquired the San Francisco-based pastry chain in 2012 for a reported $100 million, according to CNNMoney.

The closures, which also affect two manufacturing facilities, will occur by the end of September.
