'Star Wars' mania a jolly sign for toy makers

The buildup to the release of “Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens” is a jolly sign for toy makers and retailers that are poised to profit from the first “Star Wars” film in a decade.

Oppenheimer & Co. analyst Sean McGowan estimates "Star Wars" toys will generate $2 billion in sales from September through December.

Walt Disney, the owner of "Star Wars," said the franchise has given the company 9 percent growth in earned licensing revenue.

The movie hits theaters Dec. 18.
