Posted online
How much money does it take to virtually create the universe? Apparently more than $37 million.

People are more than willing, if not eager, to hand over their cash to be a part of the upcoming PC space simulator game "Star Citizen," which, through crowdfunding, crossed the $37 million mark Wednesday.

The most crowdfunded project ever, Time magazine reports the project will continue to crowdfund, aiming for its final stretch goal of $39 million. The project is the brainchild of "Wing Commander" creator Chris Roberts' of Roberts Space Industries and developer Cloud Imperium Games.

Time asks: What do backers get for $37 million? A new star system at the heart of a nebula, with two worlds.

The game is set to debut on Windows PC in early 2015.
