St. Louis Zoo officials have released renderings of its 40,000-square-foot, $15 million polar bear exhibit, the St. Louis Business Journal reports.
The exhibit, dubbed McDonnell Polar Bear Point, is designed to hold an adult male and female bear and a family of one to three cubs. Visitors will be able to see the bears swimming in a 13-foot-deep pool through a 22-foot viewing window.
McDonnell Polar Bear Point could also serve as a breeding area for the bears because the zoo participates in a cooperative breeding program developed to help the species survive.
