St. Louis, Springfield fast-food workers protest for pay

Posted online
St. Louis and Springfield fast-food workers yesterday joined protests that have been taking place across the country calling for higher wages.

In Ferguson, about 150 workers stood in front of a McDonald’s during breakfast rush holding signs and shouting slogans for more pay. Later, many of the same protesters traveled to another area McDonald’s, flooding the restaurant and chanting to workers from the front counter, “We got your back,” according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Workers in Springfield also demonstrated. At least a dozen workers marched in front of a West Kearney McDonald's, holding signs and saying, "Hold the pickles, hold the fries. Make our wages super-sized," according to Ozarks First.

The protests are the latest in a series of demonstrations that began about a year ago and have spread to an estimated 150 cities.
