St. Louis planning officials heard hours of comment on newly proposed zoning rules for data centers Wednesday night at a packed public hearing.
The draft zoning rules would restrict where data centers can be built in the city and set strict regulations for larger ones. During the more than four-hour meeting, the vast majority of speakers said they are against any data center development in the city.
“Here we are all back again despite the fact that the people of St Louis have already spoken on this issue and are not in favor of data centers,” said Ward 7 resident Adrian Cosby. “I don't trust the city to actually regulate this when we've already said ‘no’ and are once again being pushed to accept something we don't want.”
