In February, St. Louis
ranked as the second most romantic city in the nation. Now, the gateway to the West finds itself among the top 20 cities on this year's Forbes magazine most affordable list.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports, the city ranked 13th based on key cost-of-living factors. The survey comprises the 100 largest metropolitan areas, those with a population of 600,000 or more. The magazine analyzed housing costs, as well as costs of food, utilities, gas, transportation and medical expenses, among other things.
The Midwest commanded the top 20 with 11 metro areas total and five in Ohio alone, including Toledo, Akron, Columbus, Dayton and Cincinnati.
Buffalo, N.Y., topped the list as most affordable city in the U.S., while New York, N.Y., and Honolulu, Hawaii, tied for most overpriced.
