St. Louis has banner jobs month in July

Posted online
Employers in the St. Louis metropolitan area added 11,500 jobs in July, the highest seasonally adjusted rate for any month in the past 24 years, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

In the past year, the area has gained 25,500 jobs, or nearly 2 percent, the metro’s largest year-over-year increase since January 2000.

However, the area still hasn’t fully recovered all the jobs lost during the recession. Between 2008 and 2011, the St. Louis metro lost 70,000 jobs, and it would need to create 27,700 to get back to January 2008 levels.
