St. Louis elects new mayor

St. Louis voters elected Tishaura Jones as the city's new mayor.

Jones, the city's treasurer, defeated Alderman Cara Spencer. Both are progressive Democrats, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Jones, who will be the first Black woman to hold the office, succeeds Mayor Lyda Krewson, who chose not to seek a second four-year term.
