St. Louis County reveals cost for Ferguson law enforcement

The bill for St. Louis County law enforcement to handle the Ferguson crisis will exceed $4 million, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.

The sum, which was calculated as of Aug. 30, includes $2.5 million in overtime for police officers following the police shooting death of Michael Brown. A county official told the business journal damage to police vehicles from rioters would cost about $160,000, and food and supplies would cost about $130,000.

Payments are expected to come out of the county’s emergency fund, which sits at $5.9 million.
