St. Louis County Council on Tuesday voted down a property tax freeze for older adults.
The measure now heads to the ballot for county voters to decide.
“Seniors need help now,” said Dennis Ganahl, managing director of advocacy group Missouri Tax Relief Now. “Voting no on this is a vote to do nothing for seniors now.”
Opponents have said older adults who are wealthy essentially would get a tax break through the measure.
