St. Louis County asks FBI to help with Ferguson shooting investigation

Posted online
As marchers entered a third day of protests on Monday connected to the shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown by the Ferguson police, the St. Louis County police chief said the FBI would open a parallel investigation into the teenager’s death, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The investigation would be open, but not quick, according to one official.

Brown, who was said to be on the way to his grandmother’s house, was reportedly shot after being detained by police, then attempting to flee with his hands in the air, according to one bystander. The event sparked an immediate backlash as angry residents screamed obscenities and threats to police. Additional shots were reported as more than 60 officers responded to the scene.
