The clinic will present checks to the charities at 4 p.m. at St. John’s Hammons Heart Institute.
The donation to Ozarks Food Harvest will help fund the organization’s Food for Thought backpack program, which provides at-risk children with backpacks full of nutritious food to take home on weekends, when they may otherwise go hungry. Support from St. John’s last year helped Ozarks Food Harvest expand that program from eight to 17 area schools.
Contributions to The Kitchen will help its community outreach program assist families with rent and utility bills. Last year, 324 adults and 256 children stayed in their homes with support from a St. John’s donation. This is the third year St. John’s has supported that cause.
“Our clinic is made up of physicians, co-workers and administrators who are in the business of caring for people,” said Teresa Olsen, St. John’s Clinic internist, in a news release. “We, as a clinic, recognize that we are members of a greater community and continue to try to recognize where there is a need, and to fill that need.”[[In-content Ad]]
