St. John’s receives disease-management accreditation

Posted online
St. John’s Health System has earned full disease-management accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance for patients with certain conditions.

The three-year accreditation is for the health system’s asthma, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes and maternity programs.

To receive accreditation, St. John’s underwent a comprehensive review of the full range of disease-management standards, including program content, patient service, practitioner service, clinical systems, measurement and quality improvement and program operation.

Disease-management programs are becoming more popular among health systems as the cost of care rises, according to a St. John’s news release. Disease-management programs can help employers reduce employee sick days and retain workers.
