St. John’s Clinic names Springfield division president

Posted online
St. John’s Clinic has named a president for its Springfield division to replace retiring Dr. Walter Gaska.

Fred McQueary, MD, a St. John’s Clinic orthopedic surgeon, was chosen in a nationwide search that began last May, when then-President Gaska announced he would retire at the end of the year. Gaska currently is transitioning into the role of president emeritus.

McQueary also is St. John’s department chair for surgical specialties, hospital chief of surgery, and a member of St. John’s Health Plans and St. John’s Health System boards of directors, according to a company news release.

McQueary joined St. John’s in 1986 after serving as an assistant orthopedic surgeon at Harvard University Health System and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He has a medical degree from University of Missouri–Columbia, completed residency at University of Iowa Hospitals and did a clinical fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Both Gaska and McQueary will continue their medical practices in their new roles, according to the release.

St. John’s has three division presidents; the other two cover the region and Rolla.[[In-content Ad]]
