The health system immediately named Kim Day as Eckersley’s replacement, effective Sept. 6.
Eckersley joined St. John’s in July 1999.
“We are appreciative of the strong leadership Jay has provided to St. John’s over the past six years,” said Ron Ashworth, president and CEO of Sisters of Mercy Health System, St. John’s parent organization, in a news release.
Eckersley said he is proud of the work he did during his time as CEO.
“Together, with the employers in our community, we have worked diligently to improve the quality of health care while increasing efficiencies,” he said in the release. “I’m proud to have been a part of this fine organization.”
Eckersley will remain at St. John’s through September for a smooth transition.
Day has served as chief financial officer for St. John’s since 2000 and as executive vice president since 2003. He previously worked for SSM Health Care in St. Louis and Menorah Medical Center in Kansas City.
Day holds a master’s degree in business administration from Central Missouri State University and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Rockhurst College in Kansas City.
