St. Charles woman sentenced to prison for embezzling millions

A St. Charles woman has been sentenced to 51 months in prison and ordered to pay nearly $3.6 million in restitution for embezzling millions of dollars.

In January, Anastasia Grzeskowiak, 61, pleaded guilty to one felony count of wire fraud and three felony counts of filing false tax returns.

The crimes occurred while she was caring for a disabled individual who developed a blinding eye disease and asked Grzeskowiak to assist him in his financials.

Between June 2006 and April 2013, Grzeskowiak forged over 800 checks, obtaining $2.9 million from her victim without his authorization.
