St. Bernards begins $130M expansion, renovation project

St. Bernards Medical Center this month began the first phase of a $130 million expansion and renovation project at the Jonesboro, Ark., hospital.

The $9 million renovation to the Ben E. Owens Cancer Treatment Center is expected to be complete by October 2016, with other projects beginning in the spring and running through 2019, according to Arkansas Business.

Other improvements will be made to the Heartcare Center, the medical center and ambulance bays. A new front entrance for emergency services will be constructed, as well.

The largest expansion in the overall project is a new five-story, 245,000-square-foot surgical and intensive care center tower, with is estimated to cost $75 million.
