SRC is moving its engine disassembly and cleaning processes to a 160,000-square-foot facility, 601 14th St., which is currently occupied by another SRC subsidiary, Encore Inc.
The facility had been used primarily for storage, said SRC Automotive General Manager Marty Callison. Encore operations are being consolidated at SRC’s Springfield location, 340 S. Barnes, and its one Monett staff member will transfer.
Callison estimates the cost for expansion will be about $750,000, with $300,000 spent on equipment and $450,000 on renovations of the building. Operations at the new facility will begin Feb. 1.
SRC previously outsourced its disassembly and cleaning operations, Callison said.
Suzy McElmurry, executive director of the Monett Chamber of Commerce, said SRC’s move to Monett will have a positive effect on the community, particularly through its creation of 15 to 25 jobs.
“We’re always excited to have additional jobs,” she said. “We always welcome companies of the caliber of SRC, and they’ll bring a lot of quality to Monett.”
