Digital payments platform Square entered a deal to purchase Australian firm Afterpay, which allows users to pay later for a product purchased in the present.
The $29 billion deal reportedly would be the largest buyout in Australia's history.
"Square and Afterpay have a shared purpose," Square co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey said. "We built our business to make the financial system more fair, accessible and inclusive, and Afterpay has built a trusted brand aligned with those principles."
