Springfield Public Schools honored four alums who went on to become leaders in the fields of education, health care, nonprofit and science.

Brandy Harris, Dr. Jeff Johnson, Marcia Johnson and Lynn Craig McGrew were inducted yesterday into the SPS Hall of Fame during a ceremony held at White River Conference Center, according to a news release.

Harris, a 2004 graduate of Hillcrest High School, now leads Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield. Her tenure as CEO has been marked with the opening of eight locations, the hiring of 150 staff members and service to 1,500 club members and 8,000 youth in the community.

Dr. Jeff Johnson is a retired urologist who recently exited Mercy Hospital Springfield after a 38-year career in health care. His wife, Marcia, had a career as an elementary school teacher. Both continue to be active civically in organizations such as the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools and the Springfield Little Theatre, according to the release. The Johnsons graduated from Glendale High School in 1966.

Craig McGrew, a Parkview High School graduate of 1996, works as a guidance and flight dynamics engineer for NASA. Earlier this year, she was part of the crew that monitored the Perseverance rover's landing on Mars.

They honorees join past inductees including Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris, CoxHealth President and CEO Steve Edwards and former U.S. Attorney for the Western District Tim Garrison.
