SPS graduating seniors accept $15M in scholarships

The 2013 graduates of Springfield Public Schools accepted roughly $15.2 million in scholarship funds.

Leading the pack was Kickapoo High School, where 133 graduating students nabbed $3.6 million in regular scholarships and 107 received $1.5 million in A+ scholarships, for total scholarships of roughly $5 million, according to an SPS news release.

In second was Central High School, where 87 graduates received a total of $3.9 million in regular scholarships and 107 took in $772,005 in A+ scholarships, for a total of about $4.7 million.

Other SPS scholarship figures:
  • Glendale High School graduates received a total of $4.6 million in scholarships, comprising 98 students who received $3.5 million in regular scholarships and 143 students who received $1 million in A+ scholarships.
  • At Hillcrest High School, 58 graduates were granted $2.5 million in regular scholarships, while 72 received $519,480 in A+ scholarships, representing a total scholarship figure of roughly $3 million.
  • Parkview High School students received a total of $2.6 million, with 79 students receiving $1.7 million in regular scholarships and 128 grabbed $923,520 in A+ scholarships.
  • Four students at Bailey Alternative High School received a total of $2,800 in regular scholarships.
During the May 9-10 commencement ceremonies at JQH Arena, 1,634 SPS seniors received diplomas, according to the release.
