SPS foundation chooses new executive director

Posted online
The Foundation for Springfield Public Schools Board of Directors promoted its development director to the top position in the organization.

Effective Jan. 5, Natalie Murdock succeeded three-year Executive Director Jana Bachus, who exited the position to spend more time with family, Murdock said via email.

“Her passion and enthusiasm for the students in the district contributed to the decision, not to mention her many successes during her tenure with our organization,” foundation board President Jeff Shore said of Murdock in a news release.

As development director the past seven years, Murdock oversaw the organization’s back-to-school grant program, teacher appreciation banquet and the implementation of new programs. In her new role leading the foundation, she’ll be responsible for overseeing its mission and financial objectives. The foundation, which is independent of the district but works closely with its officials, manages over 190 funds and scholarships totaling around $5 million, according to the release.

The foundation will accept resumes until Jan. 19 to fill the development director position, which is responsible for fundraising and marketing activities. The job pays a starting salary of about $38,000, Murdock said.[[In-content Ad]]
