SPS board extends benefits to same-sex couples

The Springfield Public Schools Board of Education voted 7-0 Tuesday to extend health benefits to married same-sex couples.

The Springfield News-Leader reports the change takes effect Dec. 1.

The third-largest employer in Springfield, it’s unclear how many additional people on the payroll will sign up following the change.
