About 920 attendees watched Busch receive the award at the chamber’s 2008 annual meeting at University Plaza Convention Center. She is the 52nd Springfieldian honoree; last year, the accolade went to Kenneth Meyer, founder and president of Meyer Communications.
The award is given to a citizen who has exemplified outstanding community service, excellence in his or her profession and dedication to improving Springfield’s quality of life, according to a chamber news release.
Busch began her career in Springfield in 1985 at the Kickapoo Library Branch, and she was named the district’s executive director in 1990. She spearheaded the opening of the nationally acclaimed Library Center and led the library district into the Internet age, according to the release.
Busch also was the first female president of the Springfield Rotary Club.
