Springfield WolfPack to play charity game

Posted online
The Springfield WolfPack, a professional indoor football team that began play this summer, will tackle a charitable cause Saturday night.

A portion of ticket proceeds from an exhibition game against the Topeka Tornadoes will be donated to Boys & Girls Club of Springfield.

“This is our way to give something back to the kids in the community,” said WolfPack coach Terry Edwards in a news release. “My girls go to the Henderson Unit, and it has done wonderful things for them.”

General admission tickets go on sale at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Jordan Valley Ice Park, the site of the game. Tickets are $7, and kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The WolfPack is a member of the American Professional Football League, a four-year-old national league with teams in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska and Texas.

The WolfPack ended the 2007 regular season with a 5-6 record after getting a forfeit win over the Missouri Minutemen on June 30.
