Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt has received a judgment against a Springfield company for violating the state's telemarketing law.
A Kansas court last week ordered The Buzz Marketing and Communications LLC to pay the state $952,000 in penalties and fees for violations of its No-Call Act. Schmidt's consumer protection division found Buzz Marketing had contacted at least 93 Kansas residents on the state's no-call list attempting to sell them Branson vacation packages, according to a news release.
“Telephone solicitors are bound by state and federal laws to avoid calling consumers who opt for privacy,” Schmidt said in the release. “The Kansas No-Call Act gives us clear authority to enforce the law against those who ignore it.”

July, Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster filed suit against Buzz Marketing, alleging the telemarketer violated Missouri's no-call law during a six-month period in 2012, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.
