Springfield's sole Bed Bath & Beyond store has been spared in the first round of recently announced closures from the retailer.
Union, New Jersey-based Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. (Nasdaq: BBBY) late last week released a list of 56 stores it plans to shutter. The Springfield store, at 3308 S. Glenstone Ave. in Primrose Marketplace, isn't on the list, nor are any other Missouri stores.
The stores selected for closure are among roughly 150 "low-producing" locations, the company announced late last month.
In Primrose Marketplace, Bed Bath & Beyond has roughly 30,000 square feet, according to Primrose Marketplace owner Chase Properties' website.
Bed Bath & Beyond, which sells bedding, bath, cookware and home decor products, had 955 stores as of May 28, 2022, according to its website.
The former Kmart store on the grounds of the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World and Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium is slated for demolition, according to a permit on file with the city of Springfield.
