Springfield senator appointed to state positions

Missouri state Sen. Bob Dixon, R-Springfield, has been appointed by Senate President Pro Tem Robert Mayer to the State Records Commission and the Missouri State Unemployment Council.

The State Records Commission manages and approves all records in the executive branch of the state government. Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan is chairwoman of the commission. Its membership comprise the state auditor or designee; the attorney general or designee; the executive director of the State Historical Society; a state senator; a state representative; the state chief information officer; and the state archivist, according to the commission's Web site.

The Missouri State Unemployment Council advises the Missouri Labor Department's Division of Employment Security on state unemployment insurance law. The council has 11 members, appointed by the governor, the president pro tem of the senate and the speaker of the house, according to the council's Web site.

“Each of these bodies plays an important role in state government,” Dixon said in a news release. “I welcome the opportunity to be directly involved in the effective and efficient fulfillment of their duties.”[[In-content Ad]]
