The first class – a dinner program entitled “An Evening with your Mayor and City Council” – is 6–8:30 p.m. at Cooper Tennis Complex.
The program offers presentations on various city departments and tours of city facilities to teach citizens about city government structures and functions. Graduates are encouraged to take active roles in local government by volunteering for boards and commissions.
Classes are limited to Springfield and Greene County residents. Interested participants can contact the city’s planning and development department at (417) 864-1037 or download an application from the city’s Web site, www.springfieldmo.gov/university.
