The Springfield Public Schools Board of Education got a clean bill of health for the city's financial statements at the board's Tuesday night meeting.
The district gets an external audit on its financial budget each year, and the audit this year, performed by Arnold-based Daniel Jones & Associates, was "unqualified" for the 17th consecutive year. Unqualified status means that the district met all standards of accounting principles accepted nationally.
The district says that less than 3 percent of the state's 520 public school districts receive an unqualified audit each year.
The report said that the district's financial statements were materially correct, and that pupil attendance, transportation and budget records were in compliance with state statutes. The district was also found to be in compliance with requirements for the major federal programs that provide funding.
"One of our district's three guiding goals is to ensure efficient and effective use of resources," Superintendent Norm Ridder said in a district release. "It's a commitment we take very seriously and I think this audit report affirms that."
Bids are taken for an independent auditor every three years, and past audit and financial reports are available at the link below.
