Springfield sales tax revenue climbs in December

Springfield's 1 percent sales tax check from the Missouri Department of Revenue for December totals $3.9 million, representing a 1.7 percent increase compared to a payout of $3.8 million in the same month of the prior fiscal year.

Including this month's check, the city's fiscal 2014 tax revenue collections have risen 3.4 percent to $19.7 million, according to data from the city of Springfield.

The city's tax collections increased in four out of the six months so far this fiscal year, with decreases in August and October. Springfield's fiscal year began July 1.
