A mid-August tradition will return to Springfield for its 22nd year.
The Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper will be held Aug. 8-14 at Highland Springs Country Club, according to a news release from the PGA Nationwide Tour.
Springfield’s event is one of 26 in 16 states from February through August.
Organizers of last summer’s Price Cutter Charity Championship golf tournament doled out $712,220 to 42 children’s charities during a Nov. 30 presentation at Highland Springs Country Club.

Donations this year by the John Q. Hammons Foundation ranged from $2,100 to Boys & Girls Town of Missouri and Children’s Smile Center to $62,200 to Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
"We are very excited for another year of world-class golf on the Nationwide Tour," John Aman, associate vice president of strategic sponsorships for Nationwide Insurance, said in the release. "Once again, the Nationwide Tour will give fans a chance to see the next generation of PGA Tour stars in action, and each event provides meaningful support to local charities."
Nationwide Insurance enters its ninth year as umbrella sponsor of the Nationwide Tour and is committed to sponsoring the tour through 2012.
