Project description: Springfield Public Schools is constructing a new Reed Academy Middle School on the grounds of its predecessor building, preserving a century-long neighborhood connection, construction officials say. The design reuses salvaged materials from the old building, including wood auditorium flooring being repurposed for ceiling features and stone relief sculptures being relocated into a new commons area. The architect is Sapp Design Associates Architects Inc., and the landscape architect is Olsson Inc., which is also providing civil engineering services. Other engineers are Toth & Associates Inc., structural; and Interpres Building Solutions LLC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
