Springfield Police warn businesses about counterfeit bills

Posted online
A rash of counterfeit money is being passed at Springfield businesses, the Springfield Police Department said Wednesday.

The department is investigating several reports of counterfeit money being spent at area establishments, with 24 reports during the last two months alone. The bills range in denomination from $5 to $100.

Police are asking business owners and individuals for help and recommending that employees at local businesses inspect all bills before accepting them.

This is not the first time Springfield Police have dealt with counterfeiting in recent months. Cody Sapp, a 27-year-old Springfield resident, was arrested in early November after being found with eight fake $20 bills in his possession.[[In-content Ad]]
