The construction of this unique combination police and fire station is the work of general contractor Branco Enterprises Inc.
Sean Thouvenot, project manager for Neosho-based Branco, said it is "one of the first of its kind in the United States" to have adjoining police and fire department space. It is planned to be complete in the fall.
Gaskin Hill Norcross Architects designed the $4.5 million project.
The shared 45,800 square feet comprises an engine room and living quarters for the firemen; police department offices; a work room, a briefing room and an area for observations and interrogations; and an exercise room, locker room and community room for both departments. A running track will be created outside.
