Springfield Police Officer Mark Priebe filed suit against Jon Tyler Routh, the man who allegedly ran him over.
In the lawsuit filed by Priebe and his wife, Routh is accused of intentionally harming the officer or acting with negligence. The suit asks the court to order Routh to pay for damages and to be punished in an effort to keep others from carrying out similar crimes.
Routh currently is in Greene County Jail. Charges could keep him in prison for life, the Springfield News-Leader reports.
Priebe yesterday was transported to a facility in Colorado where he can undergo physical therapy.
