The Springfield R-12 and Nixa R-2 school boards were named Outstanding Boards of Education by the Missouri School Boards' Association during its annual fall conference, Oct. 3-6 at Tan-Tar-A resort in Osage Beach.
The award recognizes boards for their work in governance, leadership and accountability, according to a news release.
SPS demonstrated strength in implementing the learning model; revising the district’s evaluation process for departments; and evaluating district results from performance series assessments, according to the release.
MSBA also recognized Nixa Public School's Early Childhood Program, naming it Exemplary Program of the Year for Missouri. Nixa has been a finalist for three of the past four years.
The Christian County school district is set to expand its preschool offerings in 2014, with the construction of a 25,000-square-foot facility near the downtown Nixa Public Schools administrative offices, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.
