The city of Springfield selected an interim finance director to take over for the retiring Mary Mannix Decker.
Certified Public Accountant David Holtmann, who’s worked as the city’s accounting manager for 14 years, starts in the interim position July 25. Decker’s last day is July 22, according to a news release.
“I look forward to David continuing the high standard of financial professionalism for which the city is known,” City Manager Greg Burris said in the release.
Separately, Burris formed a search committee comprising city leaders and an external finance professional to find a permanent replacement for Decker.
Holtmann currently supervises the city finance department’s accounting division, for which he leads preparation of the annual financial report, works with external auditors and manages more than $200 million in city investments, according to the release.
Decker
announced her retirement in May. She’s held the finance director position since 2004 and has worked for the city since 1999.
