Springfield names information systems director

Clay Goddard was named director of information systems for the city of Springfield, effective immediately.

Goddard previously served as administrator of community health and epidemiology for the Springfield-Greene County Health Department. He also has worked as an environmental/community health planner, health data analyst and health program representative for the department since 1997.

Goddard will oversee 23 employees in the department, which works with Springfield’s internal and external network administration, Web site, geographic information system and 911 dispatch system. The department also operates the Help Desk for internal computer support for the city.

Goddard has worked with the Missouri Health Public Institute, the Environmental Collaborative of the Community Task Force, the Watershed Committee of the Ozarks and the Missouri Public Health Association. He graduated from Southwest Missouri State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public administration.

The position was previously held by Evelyn Honea, who now serves as assistant city manager.
