Personal income for the Springfield metropolitan statistical area increased 2.1 percent in 2010 to $13.97 billion, up from $13.67 billion in 2009, according to recently released data by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Personal income is the sum of net earnings by place of residence, property income and personal current transfer receipts. It represents all income by all people from all sources in an MSA, according to a news release.
Springfield ranked No. 301 out of the nation's 366 MSAs in year-to-year personal income growth. In 2009, it ranked No. 134, despite a negative percent change.
However, according to a report from
Buffalo Business First, Springfield ranked No. 132 in the amount of personal income garnered in 2010 compared to the other MSAs.
