AMC Springfield 11, a movie theater in the southeast part of the city, is “temporarily closed for unforeseen maintenance,” according to a message on its website.
No showtimes for the screens at 3200 E. Montclair St. were listed online for May 26-27.
A note on the movie theater website encouraged customers to check back for any updates. No reopening date has been announced.
However, as of early Wednesday, the website listed movies and permitted the purchase of advance ticket sales for movie times starting May 28.
The parking lot was nearly empty the afternoon of May 26 except for a few cars and trucks from a local plumbing company parked along the northeast side of the building.
Two signs were posted on the doors at the front of the theater. One explained the closure was due to a “water main leak” and apologized for any inconvenience. The other noted online ticket sales will be automatically refunded and physical tickets will be exchanged for passes at a later date.
Messages left this week for a corporate media contact for AMC Theatres seeking more information about the closure were not returned at press time.
