Springfield manufacturing guru headlines KC conference

Posted online
Jack Stack, president and CEO of Springfield’s SRC Holdings Corp., will be the keynote speaker at a manufacturing conference next month about effective management and competition.

The conference, “Managing Innovation Today for Success Tomorrow,” will be held Sept. 20–21 at Harrah’s North Kansas City Casino and Hotel.

Associated Industries of Missouri, the Missouri Association for Advancing Manufacturing and Missouri Enterprise will sponsor the event to educate manufacturers on the most effective management systems and how to compete in the global economy.

The group cites 6,200 lost manufacturing jobs in Missouri in the last year – 2,200 of which were in transportation equipment manufacturing and 1,600 in food manufacturing – as a reason to review the status of the sector across the country.

Conference highlights will include a review of manufacturing-based tax incentives; a legislative panel discussion; and topics such as From Generation to Generation: When to Add, Sell and Retire Products; The Buy Missouri Program; and Meeting the China Challenge.

Attendees also will tour the Ford Motor Co. plant and can participate in a preconference golf tournament.

The cost to attend is $295 for AIM members, $245 for additional attendees from the same company, and $365 for nonmembers. The cost increases by $20 for those who register after Sept. 11.

To register or for more information, call AIM at (573) 634-2246.
