Springfield manufacturer plans move to Ozark

Posted online
Simclar Interconnect Technologies Inc. is moving at the beginning of April from north Springfield to Ozark.

Simclar Interconnect Technologies is a part of Simclar Group Ltd., a $450 million Scottish manufacturing company with operations in Europe, North America and Asia. The operation in Springfield assembles circuit boards, generally for Internet-related companies.

It’s relocating because Simclar Group Ltd. bought it from Northrop Grumman Corp. in February 2006, and Northrop Grumman owns the facility that Simclar Interconnect Technologies currently partly occupies at 4811 W. Kearney St.

Northrop Grumman will maintain circuit board printing operations in about half of its 100,000-square-foot West Kearney Street facility. Northrop Grumman officials haven’t decided what to do with the soon-to-be vacated space.

Meanwhile, Simclar Interconnect Technologies, a $60 million operation with 110 employees, will occupy part of one building at the former Fasco site at 1624 W. Jackson St. in Ozark.
